Practical
Begin with the real operating need. Build what people can deploy, understand, and sustain.
About HickmanWorks
We build practical technology for healthcare organizations that need clearer operations, stronger control, and better workforce decisions.
Our mission
HickmanWorks exists to turn fragmented workforce systems, data, and processes into a connected operating environment people can actually use.
We believe technology should fit the work. It should integrate with the systems an organization already trusts, deploy around practical priorities, and create measurable operational confidence.

Founder story
R.J. Hickman is a Registered Nurse with nearly 20 years of healthcare experience and leadership spanning nursing departments, physician practice administration, clinical operations, and clinical and data analytics. That experience gave him a firsthand view of how hard healthcare leaders work—and how often their technology makes that work harder.
He repeatedly encountered disconnected and redundant systems, limited automation, and workforce platforms that felt adapted to healthcare rather than built with healthcare in mind. Achieving reliable staffing visibility or position control often required hours spent reconciling information across multiple systems. After years of searching for a better solution, he stopped looking and decided to build one himself.
His faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior shapes how he leads, serves, and makes decisions. His love for his family keeps the work grounded in purpose. HickmanWorks exists to reduce complexity so healthcare leaders can devote more of their time to people, responsible stewardship, and the mission of care.
“The best healthcare technology doesn’t add more work. It gives people more time to do the work that matters.”
Our values
Begin with the real operating need. Build what people can deploy, understand, and sustain.
Design across people, processes, systems, and decisions—not around another isolated application.
Create reliable visibility and clear accountability so leaders can move from data to action.
Respect the clinical, regulatory, financial, and human realities that make healthcare different.
Treat workforce data, organizational trust, and client resources with care and discipline.
Measure success by better work and better decisions—not by the volume of technology introduced.
Corporate ownership
